September Came
-September 3, 2016

September came
and the summer rains begin to give way
to the autumn leaves. The curtains have been drawn
as another calendar year commences its final act.
The summer has left
were the memories strong?
The songbirds that sang and sung,
their melodies have gone with

the turning of the seasons.

The late-summer breeze
had it been an autumn whisper
now blowing the leaves from their trees.
The sun’s been dipping
in the horizon; soon we’ll awake to find morning frost.
And eventually, the first snowfall,
bringing us to a new start for a new year,
a new horizon for our new dawn.
